Nursing Alliance for Fair Treatment of Kansas (NAFFTKS)
Advocating for Fairness. Protecting the Nursing Profession. Reforming the Kansas State Board of Nursing.
Stand With Kansas Nurses
The Silent Battle Nurses Fight
Kansas nurses are facing unfair disciplinary actions, excessive penalties, and a lack of transparency from the Kansas State Board of Nursing (KSBN). Small, clerical errors like a missed renewal date or an online form mistake can lead to harsh consequences that threaten careers and patients’ access to care.
NAFFTKS is a collective voice for nurses demanding accountability, fairness, and reform through proposed legislation in the Kansas Legislature. Our goal is simple: protect the nurses who protect Kansas.
The Nursing Fair Treatment Bill – House Bill No. 2528
This proposed Kansas legislation addresses key issues with the current system, including:
- Decoupling license renewal errors from disciplinary action
- Automatic expungement of non-practice disciplinary records
- Anti-retaliation protections for nurses who file complaints or request hearings
- Independent oversight and accountability for future Board appointments
The bill’s goal is not to weaken oversight but to make it equitable, proportionate, and consistent with due process.

Why This Matters
Kansas depends on its nurses. Yet too many skilled, caring professionals are being forced out of the field not for patient safety concerns, but because of administrative missteps or communication breakdowns with the Board.
Fair treatment for nurses means:
- A stronger, more stable healthcare workforce
- Greater trust between professionals and regulators
- Better patient care across the state
NAFFTKS believes reform benefits everyone from patients and healthcare employers to communities who rely on a robust nursing system.
